Puntos Fuertes: Controls everything! Easy set up! No need to read manual! Stream music and pics!
Puntos Débiles: Battery life is not shown in a couple of screens.
Bought the RC9800i and my life has become simpler ever since! I have no need to be swapping in between remotes any more, and I can take all over the house and control every device I have, this is the real universal remote! Already placed an order for a second one, to have one uptairs and one downstairs. Really great if you can set it up to stream music and pictures from your computer and listen...
Puntos Fuertes: It is nice, and compact. You can step through all the pages, and menu's with ease. It was also pretty easy to setup.
Puntos Débiles: If it can't find your remote codes you have to sit there and enter in every button individually.
So far so good. It has done everything that I expected it to do. It is also female proof since the pictures on the screen tell them how to get to different devices.
Puntos Fuertes: Very Large DB or IR Codes, cool design
Puntos Débiles: Inability to control PC playback out of the box
Overall, I like the Philips RC9800i it has a nice design and initial product design. Area of improvements: 1.Infra Read or wireless computer control, I have lot’s of photo and video files stored in the computers and I have my computer connected to my TV, and in order to control the TV playback I need to buy another an IR or wireless control device (Logitech) and then teach the RC9800i all the...
Puntos Fuertes: Controls multiple devices effectively, looks cool, hard buttons very useful, touch screen responsive, easy to update firmware, on-device setup
Puntos Débiles: Sometimes touch buttons feel a little small, lack of configurability
Overall, this remote is pretty sweet. It does a pretty good job of controlling everything (though I can't yet get it to control my XBOX 360 even learning from the original 360 remote, though I might be able to rig a workaround using my cracked-but-still functioning Logitech Harmony 360's IR codes). The touch screen is very good, but sometimes the buttons are little small for my large hands. I...
Puntos Fuertes: Very easy to use, many bonus options
Puntos Débiles: No place to store stylus.
The Philips RC 9800i is a great remote. I have owned Sony universal touchscreen remotes in the past and the Philips RC 9800 is in another league. The WiFi features are a bonus to the features I was looking for in a remote. I now consider the WiFi features to be the best of all the features this remote offers. I love the fact that my wife and I can carry the remote from room to room and control...
Face it, most universal remotes are more trouble than they’re worth. The goal of reducing clutter by having a single unit control several components is a worthy one, but in practice most of them are either too limited in scope or too complicated to configure and use. Fortunately, the Philips RC9800i is an exception. If you’re willing to spend a pretty penny, this killer clicker boasts an...

Home theater has certainly given us more and better options for enjoying television viewing, as well as other home entertainment options. However, it has also given us the clutter of remote controls. The quest for a remote control that can do it all is the true "Holy Grail" of home theater. There are many "universal remotes" that can than replace some of the functions of your remote control...

Very Cool
Puntos Fuertes: Quality Remote, plus controls media from my PC.
Puntos Débiles: $600 list price (cheaper online though), worth it if you can afford it, Cheap Internal Speaker
Just got it and already love it. I saw a review in the paper calling the RC9800i the “Holy Grail” of remotes, so I felt compelled to try it. You can find the story on Google news if you’re interested. I was able to set it up without reading the maunal which is a big plus for me and I can now control my Receiver, TV, DVD and cable box with one button push. It lets you set up each of the...
