Puntos Fuertes: Abundant functionality, clear display
Puntos Débiles: The plug could use better design
The power meter is very useful: it's easy to use, and the functionalities are abundant. I actually tried it on a bunch of my appliances and electronics and found out some suprising results. Strongly recommended to people who always wonder about the rediculous power bills. The plug could be better designed. I had to use a separate power stripe when pluging it around.
Puntos Fuertes: Simple - Easy to Use
Puntos Débiles: Screen display is very dim
Great device for the money to help monitor electricity usage. It quickly helps you find devices and appliances that are sucking up power. It is a great investment that pays off quickly.
Puntos Fuertes: Lightweight, accurate, convienent, saves real dollars
Puntos Débiles: It stops working just after a year.
I bought this to measure power consumption of electronics that I acquired over the years. The first month energy bill after I acquired it is $5 lower than it used to be. The secret? Now I unplugged idle devices, chargers hanging on the outlet forever, and replaced all the lights with power saving bulbs, turned off number of computer accessaries that i won't use. Although my first Kill A Watt...
Puntos Fuertes: Easy to read, accurate(within specs), big display.
Puntos Débiles: A backlight on the display will be better. Only a 6 mo warranty.
Was amazed to see how much my 10 year old refrigerator was costing. I replaced on the next day. Have almost tried all my appliances. A great gadget every household should have to save $$$$ and conserve energy.
Puntos Fuertes: Features, Inexpensive
This is a very useful device that has opened my eyes to how much electricity is being used by the plethora of devices i have on at my house most of the time. I leave my computers on all the time and after measuring the power consumption of these PCs i have made the effort to turn them off when i wont be using them for at least a couple of hours. the other plus is the ability to decide when its...
Puntos Fuertes: Easy to use, easy to transport throughout the house, display is clear
Puntos Débiles: Instructions could be better on how to use the information.
This is a very easy device to use. I have moved it already throughout my house and have been surprised at how much (and how little) certain electronics use. My biggest weakness on the product is that the instructions describe how to use the product but they don't discuss how to easily take advantage of the information it provides. For example, how do I easily use the information gained to...
Puntos Fuertes: Inexpensive, easy to use. Provides a number of different measures.
Puntos Débiles: Cannot store information, resets when unplugged.
I must admit I was quite excited when the Kill a Watt Power Meter arrived in the mail. I had envisioned the drastic savings this new tool would spur me to achieve. However, I was a bit disappointed. While it was interesting to see how much electricity each of my appliances use, I was coming up empty when it came to finding areas to save. I turn of my computers when not in use, I have LCDs as...
Puntos Fuertes: Low cost, and very accurate instrument.
Puntos Débiles: Does not work on 220 volt appliances. No back light for the display.
Plug it in to the wall outlet and get a reading on the volts, line freq, plug in an appliance and see what amps, watts, power factor, Kilo-watts and time pluged in. So quick math for ya. Watts multiplied by .72=(answer) multiplied by what you pay for a kilo-watt of electricity. Example (Light)60watt X .72=43.2X.12(cents)= $5.18 Monthly OR Time with Kwh Kwh multiplied by your Kwh rate then divide...
Puntos Fuertes: Works as advertised
Puntos Débiles: takes up two outlets, resets itself with power outage, no backlight
This unit is great to help you win (or lose) an argument about how much leaving the lights on costs. It works great, but we actually lost power when testing one our space heaters and it lost all of the information. I thought it would have an internal battery that would keep track of information for a short period. It's also a pain to read in the dark as the screen is not backlit. The unit is...
Eye Opener
Puntos Fuertes: Multi function, compact
Puntos Débiles: Definately needs a backlight
Very useful product, lets you identify which items are the biggest users and how much the little things are that most people ignore but ultimately add up. I would recommend this product.
