Puntos Fuertes: Great right out of the box, ease of use
Puntos Débiles: some adresses are not located
Resumen: I run a commercial service truck for my HVAC business

7 days a week.I don't know how I got around Los Angeles

without it.I've used "The Guide" for over 20yrs and this thing just revolutionized the way I get around town.

With it I can even tell my customers when I'll arrive.

(it gives you an ETA on the display, barring any traffic of course)Will re-calculate your route any time and place.

Gives you the option to view the route by text,3-D map demo of route turn by turn, and a couple others.

Doing a job in an unfamiliar area and need lunch for the crew?No problem, just punch in the POI (points of intrest)

and select restarants, voila you're in. Absolutely THE BEST!

The only problem is on occasion it cannot find the specified address in the selected area, sometimes this is due to zip code error on my part, but a couple times it has come up bunk.So far I have been able to just select an address relatively close numerically, and been ok.

Also after sitting over the weekend, I had to re-set the SD card by pulling it out and turning the unit off then on.This solved a small glitch when the Tomtom kept re-routing the address over and over again.

These small problems aside, I would buy this thing ten times over again.......

Puntos Fuertes: Pre-load Maps, Battery Life, Easy to use
Puntos Débiles: Screen does get washed out in direct sunlight.
Resumen: This is great. I just travelled from Texas to New York and not once did it go wrong or even lose the signal. I use it almost everywhere I go, and it's great for someone who's new to a place. The device itself is perfect, and there are only a couple of features I'd like to have added to it - an option to change the instant that the voice gives the direction (I'd rather it tells me way in advance when to make a turn/exit), and being able to be told by the voice which street to make the turn/exit on (it does of course, mention it in the display but it would be nicer to hear it while driving sometimes.)

Puntos Fuertes: Compact, portable, colorful, adequate volume strength, decent battery life. Cool 3-D map is speed sensitive and automatically zooms in and out to pin point your present location. Plug and play for use
Puntos Débiles: Map, not entirely accurate. Some addresses may be off by a few yards. Need to keep an eye on the map when exiting due to in accurate maps where voice recognition is not present.
Resumen: 2005-07-06 16:35:45 I am happy with the TomTom 300 purchased about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I have used this device to get around different many cities around the US and even traveled to Canada (map included on CD). Traveling on major interstates are trivial with a $5 roadmap, however when traveling within cities (eg: Toronto, Boston, NYC) this device suddenly becomes the most valuable item in the vehicle, ESPECIALLY when traveling alone where you must keep your eyes on the road.

Upon first use, the glare I noticed which reflected off of the device was notorious making the screen totally useless. I found that if you tilt the screen at an angle which faces directly towards your eyes, the glare disappears!

I found that this device is priceless when traveling at night in twisty turnpikes where light is close to null. By keeping your eye on the road and quickly glancing at the map from time to time, you can use it to navigate around blind sharp curves. It’s almost like night vision.

Directions are clear and vivid - when the map is correct (I found this to be true for most cases). I did find some instances where the map was incorrect – eg: I found one major route which it did not recognize at all. The TomTom works similar to Mapquest.com with the addition of its “Points of Interest” tool which allows you to choose a destination by various selections such as: amusements, restaurants, rest stops, gasoline, parks, etc. The 200MHz processor is adequate for calculating destinations.

Overall, I am satisfied with the TomTom 300. This is my first time using such a tool so I cannot comment on others for comparison. I find that It is one of those devices that you don’t really need, but once you have cannot live without – just like a cell phone :)

Puntos Fuertes: The TomTom is very easy to use. It took me exactly one day to get acquainted with this toy, and I enjoy it very much. The touch panel technology is awesome.
Puntos Débiles: The box is kind of small, but I guess all of these external navigation systems are small.
Resumen: The TomTom Go 300 is very nice. It came highly recommended from two other friends who really enjoy it. I've only had it for two days, but have already utilized its benefits. Although the screen is small, it does not bother me, and it is actually better to have a smaller GPS erecting from your window rather than a huge monitor. It gets the job done. There are many different features on it such as alternative routes, different languages, voice volume which is connected to the speed of your car. It has 3D view, driving directions in text (bye bye mapquest), and favorites points of interest. It's the best bang for your buck compared to the other brands out there, so go grab one!!

Puntos Fuertes: easy to use right out of the box. lots and lots of features. for the price, it is incredible. i tried the garmin and the magellan products, and this is much more user friendly and has more features.
Puntos Débiles: the power supply to the unit in the car looks a bit silly, i think the permanant docking would be a good choice if you use it alot.
Resumen: i have only had this product a few days and i am wowwed. it is really easy to use. it works right out of the box, its a small, versatile gps. it finds your position very quickly (it found 3 satellites in my location) it has voices and color schemes to make it more personal. it really does everything you could want. its poi finding abilities are cool too. it found all the restaurants in a 2 mi. radius. the touchscreen is just large enough to see but not so big that it clutters the dash. its portable so i can see how it would be easy to switch between cars, etc. the tomtom people are working on their website, and it seems like updating maps/voices etc. is really easy. if you have a bluetooth phone you can even make hands free calls to the poi's and download realtime traffic data. simply incredible. never have to use mapquest or panic on the highway again!!

Puntos Fuertes: Easy to navigate menu, great maps/directions, 3d view helpful and not overly expensive.
Puntos Débiles: Manual is pretty basic, it has no instructions on how to put Canadian maps on a SD card.
Resumen: I've been looking for a portable GPS navigation unit for about 6 months now, I tested out a few others like Garmin Quest and Magellan Roadmate but the Tomom Go 300 seems to have the best features/price combination.

Very easy to setup and start using, when the box says ready to use out of the box, it meant it.

Compared to OEM Nav system that came with my Acura TL, this thing is pretty sweet, a particular I liked better on the Tomtom is the 3d view of the maps.

Maps have been quite accurate here in northern California.

The manual is pretty basic, but other that that this thing is almost perfect!

Puntos Fuertes: Very easy to use, Great bang for the buck, I purchased this just last week through Harmony Computers and it was delivered in 48hrs. No extra charge for updating the system. Just go online.
Puntos Débiles: Sometimes it dosen't recognize certain areas.
Resumen: Let me give you an example of an area that wasn't quite recognized. I keyed in an address located in Mare Island, it didden't work. Key it in as Vallejo it works. But when you drive there the system shows it as Mare Island. I hope this will be corrected with future updates.

Puntos Fuertes: touch screen, easy menus, clear voice directions, comprehensive maps, & battery powered option
Puntos Débiles: in bright sun somewhat hard to read
Resumen: First of all, the Tom Tom helped make our trips more fun because when I was driving we avoided the usual wife as reluctant navigator syndrome ("but I'm not good reading maps"). Not once on our summer vacation in driving from Michigan thru Canada and to Rhode Island over to NY and back did either of us say I'm not sure which way to go or where to turn. It was sooo nice.

Only a few times did the Tom Tom get a little confused like when we were on the George Washington Bridge approach stuck in NYC traffic Tom Tom thought we were on the overhead streets and started to tell us how to get back on the highway. But in 9 days on the road, thru 8 States and Canada the maps and navigating was almost flawless.

It took a little extra to load the Canada maps onto a second SD memory card, but the maps for the all the USA come already on a GB memory card included with the machine, and they are very complete. It even has millions of POI (Points of Interest) from gas stations to hotels and restaurants - with phone numbers.

All in all it is a great device - with battery power I am also looking forward to trying it on bike trips and hikes. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Puntos Fuertes: Voice quality and on-screen clarity are excellent. I especially like the road view as if seen through the windshild, rather than the bird's-eye view of other software.
Puntos Débiles: None so far.
Resumen: It blows me away that on a 1 GB SD card maps for the entire US and points of interest can reside. This is something that used to take 6 CD's and cost $1,200 or so. The crystal-clear quality of the voices -- it's up to you to choose which of more than 15 languages you want your cues in -- is remarkable, and the map software gives you an excellent view at a glance on a diamond-sharp screen that is visually uncluttered. An excellent navigator, and the price makes this a no-brainer purchase.

Puntos Fuertes: Easily switches from car to car. Comes with everything needed; case,ac adaptor, cigerette lighter plug,pre-loaded maps, windshild suction mounting bracket, usb computer hook up cord, and touch screen.
Puntos Débiles: None
Resumen: I love this unit I am directionally handicapped. Can't find my way out of a paper bag. This unit takes me where I want to go. I went from the Orlando airport to my mother's house in FL. An impossible task for me. Made it with mo problem. It has a 4 hour built in battery which allows you not to have to use the cigarette lighter plug on short trips.

Puntos Fuertes: First off, its touch screen. One of the easiest navi to use.
Puntos Débiles: Dont work too well if you have your top down on your car, due to direct sunlight.
Resumen: Overall, I did my research and chosen the tomtom over the other company Due to the fact that it look cool and there was a year free of live traffic update. It was ready to go right after you got it out of the box and charge it up.

1 Star ReviewVery upset with tech support. On line support did ...
Puntos Fuertes: Easy to use
Puntos Débiles: Did not recognize major interstates in OHIO. Rt. 71, Rt 90, and Rt. 77 were either misnamed or not anywhere on the maps. Kind of sad that it could not manage to get from Cleveland to Columbus.
Resumen: Very upset with tech support. On line support did not reply at all after 3 weeks of waiting (still waiting) phone tech support finally answered after 2 days and said they did not have to include the interstates. Huh??? Said some other totally moronic stuff about their product and our expectations. We only wanted to get from here to there. We had no desire to drive on non-existent roads, swim in a canal, or make a left turn across 4 lanes of interstate into a cornfield. The topper was the insistance that we get off the main road. (Yes, we had it set correctly!)

Can't believe so many people had no problem with this lemon. BTW, we tried two different units and checked with someone else's unit besides. None of them recognized normal interstates.

Puntos Fuertes: Extremely accurate with very fast response, simple to use, ready to go out of the box.
Puntos Débiles: Display is difficult to see in bright sun. 5 volt power is supplied from a miniature coax type connector similar to 12 volt connectors for other accessories, potential for over-voltage damage.
Resumen: The Tom Tom Go 300 is better than advertised. Its three dimensional display makes driving a new experience. Quickly acquires its location and its re-routing capability is fast and impressive. Its basic road display eliminates clutter and leads to clarity in unfamiliar places. From box to use in < 5 minutes. Touch screen gives more details if that is what you desire. Only 2 switches, power and disconnect from heavy duty windshield suction cup mount. Very pleased customer.

Puntos Fuertes: Very easy to use touchscreen menu, fairly adequate battery life, compact design.
Puntos Débiles: Maps are a little dated to the point that I noticed a handful of unnamed roads, can't use the PLUS service because I can't pair it with my Treo 650.
Resumen: Overall, my experience with this unit was very satisfactory. I used it to travel from Virginia, Washington DC, Philadelphia & Pennsylvania & most of the time, my point of destination was accurate. Though I did encounter some confusion where the street on the GPS unit was showing the old name when it was already changed to a different/new name.

Puntos Fuertes: Map Accuracy, Position Accuracy, Voice Directions, Ease of Use, PRICE, PRICE, PRICE, Portable, CAR and WALL power included, Car mount included.
Puntos Débiles: No Phone Number for support.
Resumen: Just got this a day ago. Works right out of the box. No syncing parts of maps. I have seen some negative reviews, but don't understand them. I live on a road that is only a couple year old and it is in there...

Documentation is GREAT, but the detailed doc is on the CD. Only a "Quick Start" guide is provided on paper. I'll leave more info after our vacation next week. A few hundred miles of driving in a few states should help test out the unit.
