Puntos Fuertes: Slick design, text to speech, traffic service, nicely priced.
Puntos Débiles: Lacking in POIs, on screen buttons can be small.
Resumen: The Navigon 2100 is a slick entry level GPS with many advanced features you don't find at units at this price. It has text-to-speech which says the street names for you when navigating (instead of the generic "turn right in 20 feet"). Mine also came with lifetime traffic service which alerts you to road conditions in many major cities. When I was driving in Syracuse this feature kicked in to an accident on my route and provided me an alternate route if I wished to take it.

There are some negatives to the GPS. The points of interest (POIs) are definitely lacking. This unit contains 1.3 million but it seems like most of them are mcdonalds and burger kings. Also the on screen buttons are a little small so if you have larger fingers you sometimes tend to mash the buttons.

For this price though its hard to beat.

Puntos Fuertes: Solid feel, very compact, good hardware, advanceted features (text to speech, reality view)
Puntos Débiles: routing and some other aspects of the software can use some improvement, maps limited to 48 states of US, POI is a little limited. It freezes up quite a bit.
Resumen: 2007-12-10 19:59:16 I bought the GPS from Staples (black friday deal: $99 with live traffic).

In general, I am quite happy with the system. I had some problem with the routing using the "Fast route" option. Then I changed to "Optimal route" option, which seems to give reasonable routes.

To receive traffic information, the USB power adaptor has to be plugged in.

The system can be charged at home by connecting to a PC using USB cable.

The font sizes are sometimes too small. Speed limit information is not accurate (some highway with 65 mph limit shown as 55 mph). It would be better if the usb port can be moved to the side of the system.

The most important issue with the GPS is that it freezes up from time to time. Hopefully the bugs will be fixed in the 2008 1Q release of the software & map.

Puntos Fuertes: Looks slick, Quick signal, 3D reality view, text-to-speech
Puntos Débiles: Not may POI's.
Resumen: I am the first time user of a GPS device and I couldn't be more happier. It takes less than a minute to get the initial GPS lock. This GPS looks very slick with a nice display. The 3D reality view is a very nice feature and helps greatly near complex intersections. It pops up automatically and makes driving easier. Text-to-speeach feature is a great addition and audio volume is loud enough to hear clearly. It does quick recalculation of the route if you deviate from the calculated route. The only complaint I have is lack of many point of interests (POI). Apart from that this is an excellent GPS with great features.

Puntos Fuertes: Cheap Price, Reality View, Traffic Updates, Speed Alerts, Sleek Design
Puntos Débiles: Touchscreen requires holding your finger in position for a second or two. Routing program could use some upgrades.
Resumen: This device is GREAT for someone who just wants to go A - B in unfamiliar areas. To test it right after buying it I routed myself back home, I know the best route, real quick

1 Star ReviewNAvigon 2100 - don't buy it
Puntos Fuertes: Every 2 seconds it tells you "caution!!!" - Very helpfull!!
Puntos Débiles: It can call u-turn option in middle of the bridge, navigation is very bad. You can't trust it. It is freeze in a middle of your trip.
Resumen: It is a worse navigation device in my life.

Unit is not reliable, not accurate and can't be recommending for public use in current condition.

Traffic information is from 2 hours ago.

Just one positive parameter - it fast to find location.

Puntos Fuertes: Very Easy to. The menus are simple and intuitive. Voice Prompts are clear and loud enough
Puntos Débiles: None so far
Resumen: 2008-02-15 17:39:45 This is my second gps. My first GPS is Pharos Drive GPS 140. It has more features than this one: Bluetooth, Video, Mp3; however, it has so many negative as well: lost signal while driving, and notify driver address too early before arriving at destination. Obviously , 2100 is much better than my first gps. Not only, it has better satellite connection, but also 2100 price is affordable and cheaper than my first GPS. 3 words for this product: Affordable price, simple, and effective.

Puntos Fuertes: Cheap, easy to use, light weight and small.
Puntos Débiles: Inputing data is sluggish on the touch screen.
Resumen: I picked up this GPS for my wife on Black Friday. Navigon 2100 came out recently, but it has all the features you need. Points of Interest, 3D views, Reality views at intersections, and easy to use. I really like the look and finish of the GPS. Lifetime traffic alert is nice too (may have to pay a 1 time fee).

If you are going someone where for the first time, be sure to input your info at home. The touchscreen is slow and can be frustrating at times.

Overall, it's a great no nonsense GPS without the bells and whistles.

Puntos Fuertes: Text to speech, portable size, Beautiful design, Easy to Navigate, Not too many features to confuse the first time buyer.
Puntos Débiles: No Blue Tooth Capability
Resumen: This is my first GPS system. Its really nice price($99/- on BF at Staples). When i compared this device with Garmin devices, most of the features are available. Very easy to use. I am happy with the performance so far.

CONS: POI database is not very good i guess. (When I tried to locate IKEA in stoughton MA, it did not find it). This is the only little drawback i found.

Puntos Fuertes: very programmable, takes me from A to B
Puntos Débiles: will need to be reset once in awhile. Maybe 3-4 times in a year.
Resumen: I have been using this for almost a year and for the $99.00 it is a great buy, it has a few gliches here and there but for the most part it works good, the lasted one of these had some lockup problems

2 Star ReviewNot ready for Prime Time
Puntos Fuertes: None
Puntos Débiles: Poor data entry, and mini sized Icons
Resumen: First of all, my wife wanted this device because of the hype about selecting which lane to be in when making a turn. So we bought it.

To locate a destination, you must know the precise address or select from their lists of "Points if Interest"

We couldn't locate the nearest Costco..for example, and its been at that site for 10 years.

Second, the selection touch points on the screen are so small you have to use a pointer, such as a pencil to make selections.

I was lucky enough to find a buyer on Ebay and was able to sell for a $50 loss, as Abe's of Maine wouldn't take it back. They claimed a 7 day return policy, hidden somewhere on thier site.

I bought a Garmin 260 afterwards, the speed and selection process is far superior.

I consider the Navigon to be crap, and not ready for prime time. The listing for languages has about 20 choices,,maybe they should sell it in Africa or in the bush, where there are no roads, or POI's.

Puntos Fuertes: Decent GPS , good price 119.99 on sale at Office Depot, small compact I use it on my Motor Cycle. loud speaker, bright screen every restuarant it lists who have wifi. Most little small town stuff.
Puntos Débiles: It didn't come with a usb cable for pc but no big deal it came with car usb to charge it . Like any other they lack private roads and a few roads.
Resumen: Works like any other turn by turn voice navigation. I have tried 3 and so far they all worked the same, but 1 had mp3 player which I didn't care because I need it for navigation only. It works ok with my motorcycle under SPECIAL pouch I have that has a clear window . Since to me they all list same streets like example the ones I took back never listed private roads as private but listed them as thru, even ones that coast 500 bucks so I come to the conclusion GPS is GPS satelite no matter what system you have . This had a good price of 119 bucks 128 with tax out the door . Even if you pay 149 158 liek on tiger direct by the time you pay gas you might as well be patent for 2 days .

Puntos Fuertes: Voice on Text for street name, 3-D intersection looks nice, usally accurate route and destination, mine comes with life-time traffic (or can be added for $99 regular price)
Puntos Débiles: Take long time to first finding signal, cumbersome operation, small screen, no included AC-charge at home, not easy to mount and remount, no voice command, and inadequate point of interests (POI).
Resumen: I got on this Navigon on the BlackFriday deal with life-time traffic included, whose reliable is left to be seen since my town is not one of those available cities -- good for travel perhaps. I find the GPS is moderately easy to operate. Small screen means that it is not only a bit difficult to input all the destinations on the spot, but also viewing the route. Changing destinations on the spot proves to be a bit challenging. More expensive models with voice command and input would be nice. No bluetooth connectivity is one wonders. The 8 out of 10 times directed me to the right destinations with quite good routes. One time, it was totally missed and directed me to wrongly turn to the one-way street. Battery seems moderate. The big problem was the time it took to connect to satellite first time. A few times that it took so long that I couldn't wait and drove off to the opposite direction before it gained signal 10 minutes later -- unbelivable slow. It happened randomly with bad weather (snow) and nice daylight. I normally charged it via USB port, but I wish it could have come with AC-adapter for more versatile usages. The mounting could have been better. So far, I like the voice on text and 3-D graphic that is very clear to read if not mounting far away. POI is very limited comparing to Tomtom one. I normally plan my route and input all the addressed before hand, yet it would be nicer to have more POI just in case I need them on the route.

3 Star ReviewGood buy
Puntos Fuertes: Price, Text-to-Speech, Reality View, a lot of POI
Puntos Débiles: Speed, weak holder, lower US 48 states only, user interface
Resumen: Got this GPS during the Black Friday for a very good price. The text-to-speech feature and the life-time traffic alert were the main motivations. These features usually can only be found in some more expensive GPS. They both work really well. However, you have to use the car charging cable in order to receive the traffic alert info. The Reality View is cool and helpful in some complicated interchange. The time to latch on the GPS signal seems to take longer than many other GPS. It only comes with the lower US 48 states - wish it had the Canada map. Maps are on the SD card - wish it could be loaded to internal memory to make routing faster. The user interface is not as friendly and easy to use as other brands. The touch screen should be more sensitive. The car holder is a flimsy snap-on. Somehow in the manufacturer's website, it shows that the GPS screws into the holder not snap-on. Overall, it is a good GPS for the money.

Puntos Fuertes: Lifetime (fairly effective) traffic updates, decent text-to-speech, maps stored on internal SD card.
Puntos Débiles: Touchscreen activity is AWFUL, road map updates seem to come slowly/irregularly.
Resumen: Bought this Thanksgivcing weekend, hgad been looking for a portable GPS for a while and I liked the look of this one and its unique traffic functionality.

I had read many complaints about the slowness of the processor, and after I received the GPS I knew exactly what those comments are getting at (although I think they have more to do with the UI than the processor). You learn quite quickly that just because the touchscreen shows an input touch, if often doesn't get passsed to the processor... You also learn when this will happen (specifically, if your touch leaves a very quick register, then it hasn't done more than register the input and not pass it along).

The route recalculations are done in an efficient and timely manner, and that is what makes me think the problem is with the touchscreen interface rather than the CPU itself.

Once you get used to the quirky touchscreen, "false negative" screen touches drop off dramatically and the unit becomes easier with familiarity. Traffic updates are a very nice touch (although, not suprisingly, the are sometimes a bit delayed and using them to calculate best routes doesn't always result in the best outcomes.) However, it's not too bad, and I still find myself putting many "favorite locations" intot he system so that I can get info. on traffic reports for my current route.

Good bang for the buck, and a great system if you don't mind the learning curve that the subpar entry system (needlessly in my opinion) requireds of you.

Puntos Fuertes: stylish, reality view, TTS, good user interface
Puntos Débiles: only maps for 48 states, sluggish input, no AC charger, stupid routing algorithm, lacking POIs
Resumen: All in all, this is a very good GPS in its price range. The reality view and Navteq dataset make me comfortable with it. However, lacking POIs and only 48-state maps are minus for this item. There's a lot of room to improve its routing algorithm. Hope this can be improved in future updates.
