Puntos Fuertes: Video quality, compact size, price ($206 delivered), and customer support (sometimes).
Puntos Débiles: No mic jack, built-in mic sucks, some bugs, and software.
Resumen: 2008-03-07 14:54:39 This is a great little camcorder. It produces great video, but a tripod or mini tripod is a must. The playback on Quick Time is horrible & very gittery. Do a search for codecs & software. I'm trying out k-lite conversion software. When I convert it to avi's (which takes forever), it plays great on windows media player. If you use the k-lite software, search & download the software manuals. It would have saved me time if I did the first time. I finally burned a DVD & it plays great video quality. I'm very impressed. If you're going to do a lot of editing, buy a decent software that is compatible w/ the H.264 format. Also, make sure to buy at least a 4 gig sdhc card.

Latest bugs: 1) after downloading to pc & disconnecting, the blue light won't go off & cam does not respond to the power button, and 2) after review pics/video on the cam, the blue light won't go off or switch to live cam mode. In both cases, I had to take the battery out to reset.

Aiptek customer service: I emailed them about a defective remote & they mailed me a replacement w/ no problem. Then I emailed them twice about 3 or 4 weeks ago regarding the bugs & asked if there was any firmware updates, and no response. Ugh!!!

Puntos Fuertes: small and light, easy to use, HD, inexpensive, good video quality
Puntos Débiles: no image stabilization, audio problem
Resumen: It is a very nice HD DV. The HD video quality is very good, comparable to those expensive ones. Small enough to put in your pocket. Battery life is 30min at least, good enough for me, besides, it has two batteries. Audio is lousy, hard to hear if the object is 10 foot away or there is background noise like wind. No IS function, so you have to hold it very steady. CMOS sensor, which means rolling shutter, don't move your camera too fast! Have no problem with software, playing with Kmplayer well, never tried the software in package. Hard to find any good software to edit video, but after converting to normal H.264, it can be edit easier now.
