Puntos Fuertes: Size; weight; display; features; great combination.
Puntos Débiles: Battery life; builtin-internal battery; long boot time; No off-vehicle grip for hand-held use.
Resumen: The Nuvi 360 is a wonderful gadget - the Bluetooth is a welcome new feature over the 350. The 360 display is wonderful - you can see it even if you wear polarized sun glasses - very unique. The display gets a pink tint but remains readable.

|

POI database is a marvel! Want to go to Panda Express? Type it in and it will list them in increasing distance order!! Very cool.

|

This is clearly a vehicle unit - no place to attach a lanyard, no way to hold it securely in the hand. So now I feel I should get the 60CSx for geocaching purposes.

|

The bootup time is long - over 1 minute. The wife gets impatient - I am hoping for a firmware update someday.

|

Has Bicycle and Pedestrian mode - but no Bike attachment bracket and no secure way to hold it in the hand... :-( The off-road, pedestrian mode in Track Up mode is ideal for geo caching. Displays Altitude and Compass (only current bearing when in motion) - Hit Menu, then touch the signal strength bars in top left corner.

|

Very fast (once it boots up) to secure satellite signals. *NOTE*: Make sure you turn on WAAS - from the factory, by default it comes with WAAS turned off. (Menu - Setup - System and turn on WAAS/EGNOS).

|

Bluetooth: Needs manual upload of address book from phone to Nuvi - *NOTE* if you have more than 1 number for a name, Nuvi looses the distinction - same name shows up with multiple numbers with no way of knowing which is a mobile, home, work or fax number - bummer. The upload is also error prone - I noticed errors the did not exist on my phone. Be Careful. Finally, there have been a few occasions where the Nuvi connected to the phone but on a call, no one could hear anything.

|

MP3 Player - a great addition, but rudimentary. Playlist support would be nice along with Bookmarks for MP3 playlists and music files. The Audible.com integration is worthwhile and has bookmarking. This can not be your primary MP3 player.

|

Wish feature: A built-in FM transmitter to couple audio guidance and music to vehicle audio system!

|

Overall - a leading edge unit that you will not regret owning for many years if you use it in a vehicle.

|

Hope this writeup has been useful.

Cheers.

Puntos Fuertes: Compact Size, Portability, Signal Strength, TTS direction with actual street names, increased unused internal memory from 350 model, Bluetooth
Puntos Débiles: Needs better mounting system (longer mounting arm), price is abit expensive compared to other similar units, no traffic receiver built-in
Resumen: 2006-08-07 06:43:52 This is my first GPS unit ever and so far the 360 is performing great. It does everything that I need it to do. It has a terrific look and feel to it, not as bulky as some of the other units out there. I put in in my pocket each time I park the car so I never have to worry that it'll be stolen from the car when I'm not around. I've also loaned it to my other family members and it's so easy to transfer from vehicle to vehicle.

It appears to pick available routes well and recalculates quickly (within seconds). I like the fact that it annouces street name rather than only saying turn left or right. This is a big advantage. Even though I don't use my phone constantly in the car, the Bluetooth functionality appears to work just fine and I like the option of using it. I can even use my voice dailing command provided that it isn't too noisy in the car. I also like the fact that I can dial numbers to POIs directly from the Nuvi itself. I wish the speakers were clearer but with closed windows the problem is resolved. Battery life appears to be adequate but I always plug in the car adaptor regardless. The screen display looks terrific, I have not had a problem at all with sun glare for the most part. I do wish that the organization of POIs and the ability to search through them was a bit easier and faster. Even when setting the option to nearests point to my current location, the search can take a couple of minutes at times depending on how vague your search word is. At times it'll listt numerous location within a few a few miles of where you are, other times it'll list location that could be in another state if it can't find something close to you. I also wish a traffic receiver was pre-installed instead of having to purchase one, that way I wouldn't have to shell out extra money.

All in all I think the Nuvi 360 is an excellent product. As my first GPS unit I have no major complaints at all. I take it everywhere I go now. It's nice to have as a back up option. I'm happy that I never have to rely on Mapquest printouts ever again. I highly recommend it if you can afford the higher price. The cost of some additional free memory space and bluetooth capabilities more than accounts for the price difference between the Nuvi 360 and 350. Once this unit's price lowers a bit then I'd consider this a must have for any first time GPS owner. Like all technology and electronic devices, prices drop continuously every week/month.

Resumen:

Looked at many makes and models did my homework waited for the price to down and Garmin 360 is worth every dollar. What a little wonder! Love the screen size and the change from day to nite. Very accurate gives you a preview and actual arrival time of destination. I purposely took some wrong turns and it got me where I needed to go. Easy suction windshield mount. Its' amazing thanks Garmin good job!!! Wish I purchased it long ago.

Puntos Fuertes: Great directions, if you have two quick turns it lets you know before you get there. Love the capability of finding WalMart, Best Buy, etc in a strange city.
Puntos Débiles: No way to learn routes, it is either the fastest way or the shortest way. No way to block a road. Sometimes a little slow in picking up satellites
Resumen: This unit replace my GPS that was stolen from my Ford Excursion, a Navtech On Board. I would buy the Nuvi again. MP3 capability is of minor value. Screen is crisp and clear on almost any light. Much better than my old unit.

It changes from a detail view to a broader view based on speed, generally around 45-50 MPH.

If you set a place as a location that is not on a street, it has trouble with that.

I was in Chicago suburbs and wanted to find Frys Electronics. I was amazed that it led me to the front door even though Frys was in a new area. The maps are very current.

Voice directions do a good job of pronouncing street names tho it can mangle a simple name sometimes.

Puntos Fuertes: You name it....map, voice commands, different languages, on demand prompts...you can not get lost - there is just no way!
Puntos Débiles: I have yet to find a single weakness
Resumen: I have always been a believer in maps - I love them - I can use a map to find different routes to get from here to there - no problem. I moved from maps to online services like MapQuest, I loved that too except the directions at times seemed very complicated and often were not accurate. My husband came home with a Garmin. At first I thought - why? Can't you read a map? And...you spent what?? Then...we started using it for local trips around our new neighborhood as we recently moved....then for trips of 180 miles and more. I took my map but before long - I was using the Garmin Nuvi and LOVING IT! This device is one of the best things we have bought in quite some time (ok he bought it). It gives you voice commands that are extremely accurate, can re-calculate if you make a mistake and get you where you need to be! We have found new (quic) routes to places we've been going to for years! And a benefit is we get to see neighborhoods not just highway as you can set your Garmin for the "quickest or shortest" route. It even displays the names or roads coming up, lakes, oceans, wherever you happen to be passing! Well - suffice it to say that we are both thrilled - we love our Garmin and never leave home without it!

Puntos Fuertes: Fast, accurate, easy to use.
Puntos Débiles: Occasional errors, errors in owner's manual.
Resumen: I am in love with my nuvi 360. It joins my ipod as gadgets I would not give up. This is my third GPS, having used an Earthmate (unsuccessfully,) and a Navman/Ipaq (problems synching.) I debated saving a little $ and getting a nuvi 350, since I don't yet have a Bluetooth phone, but I decided to splurge just in case. Battery was fully charged out of the box, and use was intuitive. I was able to get started without even reviewing the owner's manual. Some of the odd pronunciations of the female voice are more amusing than problematic. There were a few misdirections, especially when starting a trip, i.e. it told me to turn on the street that I was already on. But these are very minor issues relative to how easy and trouble free it is. I have ordered a GTM 12 for live traffic updates, and using that will present a new adventure. There are only a few minor negatives. There is a major error in the manual: the earphone jack is identified as the AC charger jack. I searched Garmin's website for a correction, but it was not there. I tried to call support, but the wait times were endless. I typed a message through their websupport, but it would not send, and timed out (a few times.) I finally reached them the next day (35 minute wait) and they were not aware of the error, but did not seem surprised or concerned. The manual does not mention expected battery life, nor feasibility or cost of battery replacement after ? years. Live support said "that hasn't been addressed yet." These minor quibbles aside, this expensive gadget is worth every penny.

Puntos Fuertes: Nuvi 360 is amazingly light and small enough to fit in a pocket, which is useful while strolling in new cities. Its GPS is fully functional and it connects with the RAZR V3 easily via bluetooth.
Puntos Débiles: Sometimes, it takes a while to make a contact with the satellites, especially if it was restarted at a place different from where it was switched off.
Resumen: Overall an extremely useful product. I have traveled well over 5000 miles in the East coast and my GPS has been there to make the driving stress free and relaxed. I can enjoy the drive rather than worrying about the exits and the turns. The trips are more spontaneous and the POIs appear to be updated and relevant. Regarding other features, I regularly use the bluetooth and the dictionary. I still have to explore its mp3 playing capabilities and the SD card functionality. Overall a fully functional GPS with few worthwhile extras.

Puntos Fuertes: Fast GPS recognition (thanks to SiRF chip) Fast Route calculation and re-calculation MP3 player Audio Book Player BlueTooth (for handsfree calls)
Puntos Débiles: Slow POI (Point of interest) search Maps not perfect in Boston
Resumen: I absolutely love this GPS. I’ve had a few different GPS’s in my days, and this one is by far the best hands down. The touch screen works great. The GPS finds your location lock in seconds (my old GPS used to take minutes). Unlike the Nuvi 350 this model has a matte finish screen so there is little to no glare from the sun. This model also comes with Bluetooth capabilities so you can hook it up to your phone and make hands free calls (I haven’t tested this out yet, but I hear it works great). I was amazed at the speed this device calculated the driving directions. I planned a trip from Boston to lower Connecticut (Mohegan sun) and it calculated the whole trip in a matter of seconds (AWESOME). Also if you go off course it will recalculate in 1-2 seconds and tell you where to go. With my old GPS I used to have to pull over and wait for it to recalculate before I drove any further. And the size of this thing is amazing, I carry it around in my pocket and it takes up less space then my BlackBerry 7750. For such a small package you can’t go wrong with this device, in my opinion it’s the best GPS around.

One of the only disappointing thing I noticed on this device was when you are doing a search “by name” for a POI (point of interest), it takes a while to find the place you are looking thru, due to the fact that it has such a large database. One of the pluses about it’s extensive database is that the POI’s come with phone numbers so you can dial them via Bluetooth straight from the device, with out ever having to pick up your phone (AWESOME).

The other disappointment was not Garmin’s Fault, but rather NavTeq’s (the map makers), and it also had to do a little bit with Boston’s BigDig. Even though this Nuvi 360 came with the latest maps (released July 06) I still had some difficulty navigating Boston’s maze of one way streets, and construction zones (BigDig). But it’s not that big of a deal, it still got me to where I needed to go in no time.

3 Star ReviewNuvi 360
Puntos Fuertes: Excellent signal aquisition. Fast response, decent maps.
Puntos Débiles: Bluetooth only "sort of" works with my Motorola Q. Navigation needs improvement.
Resumen: The bluetooth on this Nuvi 360 doesn't work 100% with my Motorola Q. I can only use the dial by voice function. Everything else has issues. Works perfectly with my Nokia 6230i, though.

The navigation needs improvement. This unit drove me crazy on a recent trip from Phoenix to San Diego. It would frequently not tell me which way to go when I came to a fork in the road (while at other times and at other forks it did!). It also gave me FAR too short of notice for some turns when I was right on top of them, forcing me to re-route pretty frequently.

Another REALLY annoying thing that drove me nuts is when it would say "Turn left onto Taylor street, then turn left." Then turn left onto WHAT?! After turning left onto taylor street, there were TWO left turns and NEITHER of them was the one it was talking about. It should have said "Turn left onto Taylor street, then turn LEFT onto whatever-street-it-wanted-me-to-turn-left-onto".

Oh well. It's a nice unit. I don't think it's worth the price with these navigation annoyances, though.

Puntos Fuertes: Compact, Light weight, Very easy to use, reasonable price, lots of nice features like MP3 player, bluetooth connectivity, etc.
Puntos Débiles: Suction cup becomes loose after few weeks of use, making it very hard to mount on Windshield or dashboard.
Resumen: World's best GPS receiver by Garmin is NUVI360. Not only its reasonably prices, it has tons of features, very easy to use, lightweight & compact (can fit in your shirt pocket easily). I love this GPS receiver, thanks to Nuvi360 I do not get lost anymore. No more time waste trying to find directions, save on gas by following the shortest or fastest possible route. I would highly recommend getting this GPS receiver, this is my first GPS receiver and I am very very happy with it.

Puntos Fuertes: Size, portability, easy to view screen, all of the different options, EXTREMELY user friendly! It recalculates fast and always gets you where you need to be (sometimes the longer way around though).
Puntos Débiles: At times, it takes Nuvi a few minutes to triangulate with the satellites. Also, the voice commands will sometimes activate when you're AT the point where you need to turn so you may miss your exit.
Resumen: Is it worth it? YES. I've had "Nuvi" for three months. It's very easy to use (who reads instructions, anyway?) and has great features that I didn't think I'd use but have proven to be very useful. For example: Need to know where the closest Pet store is to your place of work (and who doesn't)? Type in "Petco" and Nuvi does the rest, including giving you the phone number for the store. If you link your Nuvi with your bluetooth phone (which sounds complicated but is VERY easy), you can simply dial straight from the Nuvi at literally the touch of a button. I'm a non-tekkie and if I can do it - ANYONE can! Also, the Nuvi will import all of your phone numbers from your phone (automatically... no tech knowledge necessary) which is a great back-up device should something evil befall your cellie.

I could yammer on and on about all of the great features, but let's face it - the real reason why you're buying this is because of the GPS ability and because it's so freaking tiny. As the queen of cheap, let me tell you to spend the extra money for the Nuvi 360 (or 350) because SMALL IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Have you seen the other models out there? If not, go to Best Buy and browse the GPS aisle. Yes, the other GPS' do the same things the Nuvi does, but they're HUGE and ghastly. The Nuvi is sleek and lightweight; So small that I don't use the windshield mount, but pop it in the cup holder while I'm driving and then literally keep it in my pocket or handbag when I leave the car (these puppies are frequently stolen, so DO NOT leave it in sight when you exit the car). You can also use Nuvi when you're walking or biking -- great for taking on vacations when you're in a new city and want to easily find places of interest (or restaurants.. or get back to your hotel)! Although I don't travel often, it's a little bonus that makes me glad I coughed up the extra bucks when the opportunity arises to go on a new adventure.

Does it have quirks? Yes-- but what doesn't? Is it absolutely flawless when giving directions to every location? No -- but what is? I can tell you that in 99% of the times I've used it, I was able to arrive without problem or concern (if I didn't have Nuvi, my success rate would only be about 50%, I get lost frequently even when I use maps and programs like Mapquest). If you're looking for the "perfect" technology, you won't find it anywhere so give up the hunt. But - if you're looking for excellent technology that is dependable and VERY easy to use (and looks techno-sleek and cool!)... the Nuvi is for you. I highly recommend it.

Puntos Fuertes: Find food, lodging, detours, very fast, accurate
Puntos Débiles: had 1 problem finding an address in Long Island and was actually very surprised
Resumen: I've had 2 other GPS systems the original Garmin Street Pilot which was barely adequate as a GPS system and almost turned me off to the technology than the Magellan Roadmate 700 which I found to be a great GPS but still had some issues. I'm glad to say that after using the Nuvi 350 that I am extremely impressed with its size, its capabilities, its speed to access the sat, its 3D map, etc. As I said I was extremely surprised that it was unable to find an address in Long Island. I plan on getting the European software to use in the UK. Loved the reporting and tracking of mileage and speed

Puntos Fuertes: Blue tooth ,portable and accurate ,The voice prompts are loud, clear and timely
Puntos Débiles: trafic receiver not built in, battery built in cannot replace
Resumen: This device is intended as an extremely simple point to point navigating AIO GPS navigation solution and is not intended to enable the use of way points or easily changing the course selected by the unit. You have essentially two options: the shortest route and the fastest route. Fortunately, the mapping program selects routs that are very acceptable. Personally, I like to look at the overall route and fiddle with it. This unit is not designed for such use. Microsoft Streets and Trips is ideal for this kind of tinkering, but terrible for point to point navigation while on the go at which the Nuvi has no peer.

Make sure and get the most recent firmware updates on the Garmin website which will fix the known bugs and further improve the functionality. This unit is so easy to use that my 85 year old father purchased one for himself and he loves it to. He is, to put it kindly, technologically challenged but this unit is so intuitive and easy to use that he's had no problems whatsoever. He doesn't like to be distracted while driving so he plans his trip before leaving and simply listens to the voice prompts.

The new bluetooth feature makes using hands free use of your bluetooth enabled phone a pleasure. If you don't need or want the Bluetooth feature save yourself a couple of hundred bucks and get the most recent Nuvi 350 but make sure it's got the low reflective screen, the bright display and map v8. Remember, only the most recent Nuvi 350s have the bright low reflective screen. I believe if you get a 350 with map v8 it will automatically have the brighter display with the low reflection screen. I give this unit a 5 star on form and a 5 star on the functionality for which it was designed. You will not be disappointed.

Puntos Fuertes: Bluetooth, large business listing, easy to use, Toll road avoidance
Puntos Débiles: Traffic receiver not included, no voice recognization,
Resumen: I purchased this just before I moved to Washington DC area. It was annoying at first till I found the toll road avoidance. (Menu-> settings-> Navigation-> avoidances-> Toll roads) We were located less than a mile from the green belt toll road so when ever we tried to go anywhere it would tell us to get on the toll road.

We use Nuvi 360 daily when we need to find something IE yesterday we need to find a place to get my son's hair cut. We punched in "Great Clips" and bam we had all the "Great Clips" in the area sorted by the distance they were from us.

This thing has saved me HOURS of time from looking up places on the internet and printing maps. Its great for vacation our first week in DC we decided to go see the DC sights we just jumped in the car typed Lincoln Memorial and bam we were in business. I took a wrong exit bam it reroute and still got us there. Then we needed gas on the way back. Menu-> Where to-> Gas and I had a list of the closest gas stations sorted by distance.

Just doing calculations against the time I am saving this thing will pay for itself within 6 months.

The only things I wish this had was voice recognization and the traffic receiver. The voice recognization would make rerouting possible while driving with out the need of a passanger to input the commands. Maybe next model ;)

If you do not need or want all the extras the Garmin c550 does have the traffic receiver built-in and an Automotive-grade, sunlight-readable, anti-glare display. It is slightly larger than the Nuvi 360
