Resumen: 2001-06-26 00:00:00 Yes, this was a very effective and slightly unnerving slasher film. I have heard this film compared to Halloween a billion times and I still must stand with my views. Halloween is much better. Anyway, Black Christmas is a well thought out and intelligent horror film. The title of course might drive alot of people away thinking it was released during that huge explosion of holiday related horror films (Ex. Silent Night, Deadly Night and April Fools) but this did beat out Halloween and was before the rush of calendar holidays, back when horror was made for the story and creepy appeal over the boob shots and splatter count. This is definatly a very underrated horror film and should be regarded much higher than it is. I am waiting for a remastered DVD to be released. Well, this is a very good and well made horror film aimed at the true fan of horror and suspence. Lacks a little in the believablity department and some of the sub plots are not very interesting. But I assure you those are the ONLY down sides to this great little slasher film. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL HORROR FANS.

Resumen: 2001-06-22 00:00:00 Many offer Halloween as the classic against which all stalker movies should be compared, but four years earlier, Black Christmas, a minor but exemplary effort succeeded in being far creepier, and avoided many of the former's failings. The telephone scenes are unnerving, the killer truly scary, and the ending is superlative, with a terrifying coda. It strains credulity sometimes, but the terrific use of setting, especially the snowbound Canadian campus, and the admirable character development (so it's not Anna Karenina; how many horror films actually give attention to the minor characters?) make for a highly recommended, as well as historically important, terror film. Olivia Hussey gives a standout performance, Margot Kidder steals her scenes, and Andrea Martin makes an impact in a non-comedic role. Definitely outshines its knockoffs.

Probably one of the best thrillers of this type I've ever seen, and unfortunately, one of the more obscure films of the 70's. It involves a sorority house and a killer that's crept up into the attic. The only girls left in the house are the ones that haven't departed for the holidays, and eventually they regret that decision. Initially, the campaign of terror begins with a series of ghoulish prank calls. The caller, speaking in about twenty different voices---or identities---is absolutely koo-koo for Coco Puffs; the calls vary between filth and death threats. This inevitably leads to the horror formula where the killer is "calling from inside the house" . As it moves on at a reasonably fast pace, the movie of course points you towards probable suspects. In the meanwhile, the bodies are piling up. Eventually, the in-house protagonist list gets streamlined down to the prettiest of the girls, who has yet to realize that most of her friends are dead upstairs. Specific comments made during the prank calls soon convince her that the killer is her own jilted boyfriend, who seems a likely enough suspect. but the final, haunting moment is when you are back outside the house, peering into the attic, seeing the eerie candle glow, hearing the murderer's voice and watching the body of the first victim, still wrapped in plastic, be rocked back and forth.Very unsettling.
