Samsung UN55B7000
THE GOOD: Produces relatively deep black levels; accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive feature set with Yahoo widgets, network streaming, and a lot of built-in content; extremely energy-efficient. THE BAD: Expensive; less-uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; backlight fluctuates with program brightness; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; red frame isnt for everyone. THE BOTTOM LINE: Although its picture quality cant quite live up to the high price, the Samsung UNB7000 series is a technological and design tour de force.

Samsung UN55B7000
The Luxia 7000 Series is Samsungs line of high-end LCD HDTVs introduced in 2009 that use an LED edge-lighting solution and feature a native resolution of 1080p and Auto Motion Plus 120Hz technology. All Luxia lines use Samsungs LED edge-lighting technology contained in a "super-slim" cabinet that measures around 1.1" thick. The B7000s are in the middle of the Luxia line situated as the step-up from the B6000s, and step-down from the B8000s. The main feature differentiating the 6000 and 7000 series is the addition of Samsungs Internet@TV connectivity, that offers Yahoo Internet widgets, and video streaming services. The step-up flagship 8000 Series upgrades the AMP 120Hz to a faster refresh rate of 240Hz. Specifications native resolution of 1080p Auto Motion Plus 120Hz LED Edge-lighting "Eco-friendly" Energy Star 3.0 compliant Consumes 40% less power than standard LCD backlighting technologies mercury free lead free 1.1" thick cabinet Inputs: 4xHDMI, USB, Ethernet Internet@TV USB Media ... PROS: (1) 1080p, 120Hz (2) 1.1" thick (3) Internet connectivity for streaming video and widgets (4) attractive stand and bezel (5) LED backlighting improves image, power efficiency, the environment ... Best HDTV for Style and Energy Efficiency
Bestcovery's experts have ranked this the #1 Best HDTV for Style and Energy Efficiency, #4 Best HDTV 55 inches and above, #5 Best HDTV 50 - 55 inches, and #5 Best LCD TV. Samsung’s UNB7000 series has an incredibly sleek, ultra-thin design (1.2” thick) and exceptional energy efficiency because of its edge-lit LED backlighting technology. Additionally, this HDTV has solid video processing and features network connectivity that allows you to receive content from Yahoo! and Flickr such as stocks, weather, news, and photo albums.
However, there are also some downsides -- most notably, the Samsung UN55B7000 is very expensive yet its image quality can’t match the performance of the best flat-panel HDTVs, including less expensive models such as the Panasonic G10 series. Compared to these HDTVs, the Samsung UN55B7000 does not perform as well in terms of black level performance, off-angle viewing, or uniformity. While black levels are still very deep, there is noticeable backlight fluctuation that hurts overall black level performance.
Though there are some flaws in image quality, it’s still very good overall. Color temperature and primary colors are very accurate, and there are tons of adjustment options to help obtain an optimal picture. For example, Samsung offers five color temperature presets, gamma control, and white balance control. There’s even a custom mode for adjusting the dejudder processing, which works very well.
As far as connectivity, most users will find it sufficient. There are 4 HDMI inputs, a PC (VGA) input, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, and an Ethernet port. Both the USB port and Ethernet ports can be used to upgrade the TV’s firmware, which makes the process very convenient. However, if you have a lot of older devices with analog connections, you may find connectivity limited since there’s only a single component input (which can be converted to accept composite video as well).
Ultimately, your decision to buy this HDTV will come down to what’s most important to you. If design, energy efficiency, and features are top priorities, then the Samsung UB7000 series is nearly impossible to beat. But if you’re looking for the best price/performance ratio, there are better buys out there. Available in 40”, 46” and 55” sizes.
